SightFind Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 19, 2026
SightFind helps ski groups find each other using live location, AR, maps, saved slope data, support messages, optional subscriptions, and first-party promotions. This policy describes what the app and service collect, how that data is used, and what controls users have.
Data SightFind Collects
- Profile and app identifiers: display name, app-generated user ID, app-generated device/telemetry ID, current group code, group access token, and group invite token.
- Group access information: group code, member user IDs, member display names, access tokens, invite tokens, and, for password-protected groups, a salted password hash stored by the server instead of the plain password.
- Location while group sharing is active: GPS coordinates, altitude, horizontal accuracy, speed, movement course, timestamps, group code, user ID, and display name.
- Support messages: message text, selected support category, reply history, app version, build number, app language, operating system version, device model, timezone, and app-generated device ID.
- App diagnostics: event category, level, message, limited metadata, app version, build number, platform, device name, app-generated device ID, user ID, session ID, current group code if joined, and upload time.
- Purchases: SightFind Plus product availability and subscription entitlement status are handled through Apple StoreKit. The app stores a local cached Plus-active flag so in-app ads and first-party promotional placements stay removed after purchase.
- On-device saved data: display name, selected language, group access details, Plus cache, saved ski slope downloads, map and terrain caches, settings, and support thread IDs.
How Data Is Used
- To show group members in AR, map, and friends views.
- To create, join, protect, and share groups.
- To keep group sync reliable through SightFind's live sync service.
- To investigate support reports, reply to users, detect reliability problems, and improve app stability.
- To save slope and terrain data locally for faster map rendering and reduced mobile data use.
- To verify SightFind Plus purchases and remove in-app ads and first-party promotional placements for active subscribers.
Sharing and Third Parties
- Group members: recent location updates and display names are visible to other people who have access to the same group.
- Service providers: SightFind uses its backend service for group sync, support, and diagnostics. It uses Apple StoreKit for Plus subscriptions.
- Maps and terrain: Apple MapKit, OpenTopoMap, OpenStreetMap Overpass providers, and related map/elevation sources may receive network requests for the map area, tile, or slope data being loaded.
- Promotions: SightFind may show first-party RadarCopter promotions. The current App Store build does not include Google Mobile Ads, does not request Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission, and does not use the advertising identifier. SightFind does not use precise GPS location, group activity, camera view, support messages, or saved slope downloads for promotional targeting. Opening RadarCopter through the App Store or its website leaves SightFind; Apple or the website may process standard request information under their own policies. If third-party ads are reintroduced in a future build, this policy and App Store privacy answers must be updated before release.
Retention
- When you turn off location sharing for a group, leave a group, or are removed from one, your shared location for that group is deleted right away. The same applies when you stop sharing with a friend. Otherwise, your most recent shared location is kept for up to 6 hours so your group or friends can see where you were last seen, and is then removed.
- Diagnostic telemetry logs are pruned by the server after about 14 days.
- Support threads, group records, membership records, and invite tokens may be kept while needed to provide the service, respond to users, prevent abuse, and maintain group access.
- On-device caches and settings remain on the device until the user changes settings, deletes cached data, leaves a group, removes the app, or iOS removes cached files.
Camera, AR, and Sensors
- The AR camera view is used on-device for the live view and overlays. SightFind does not upload AR camera photos or video.
- Camera, motion, heading, GPS, altitude, and map data can be used on-device to place friends, slopes, terrain, and mountain labels.
Promotions and Plus
- SightFind may show clearly labeled first-party promotions.
- SightFind Plus is optional and removes in-app ads and first-party promotional placements without blocking core app features.
- SightFind does not use precise GPS location, group activity, camera view, support messages, or saved slope downloads for promotional targeting.
- More detail is available in the SightFind Advertising and Sponsorship Policy.
User Controls
- Leaving a group stops sending location to that group.
- Location sharing automatically pauses after the selected background timeout unless the app is reopened.
- Saved country slope downloads can be deleted from SightFind Settings.
- Users can change iOS permissions for location, camera, network access, and notifications in iOS Settings.
- Users can stop using Support Messages at any time and should not include passwords, payment details, medical records, or other highly sensitive information in support messages.
